1.) Neither PJ nor MF told anything to "the Sun"
2.) Most of the Facts which are published by "their source" is just rubbish. They never have any "sources".
...
3.) The news appeared exactly at the same time, when BBC confirms second series for 'Sherlock'. Contingency? I don`t think so! Most probably a "Sun"-Reporter had discovered the news about the second 'Sherlock'-series and put two and two together. This news looks just too much designed to me. (But they had to say, they have a "source" because otherwise would nobody believe their construct)
4.) Even if its true that MF plays for 'Sherlock' again, it don`t HAVE to mean, he can`t play Bilbo. No one have ever published an official schedule for "The Hobbit"-Shooting, did they? So there is no reason to think, MF will not be free at the time when "The Hobbit" start. I mean, be honest: How many times did they say "We start the Hobbit next month and blablabla...". Maybe it starts Summer 2011 and in this time, MF have ended the shooting for 'Sherlock'
5. From what I’ve heard, 'Sherlock' is a hit in England. But when all is said and done, will it have been worth missing out on the role of a lifetime? Would YOU quit the chance of playing the leading pa...rt in one of the biggest and artistic film project ever made just because there is a BBC show running at the same time? In which you plays the funny little sidekick?!? I have my doubt...
6. Read the original article here: www.thesun.co.uk/.../Holmes-says-no-to-hobbit-role.html. First: It looks extremely cheap. second: Look at the formulation ""It was one of the most difficult decisions of his career...". Is this phrase not a little familiar? Remember the news of Guillermo del Toro in which he said exactly the same. (www.theonering.net/.../36920-guillermo-del-toro-departs-the-hobbit). GdT said ” I am faced with the hardest decision of my life”. It seems as if some smart "Sun"-Reporter just copied the GdT-Article with almost the same words. This screams FAKE to me! And it proofs a little my point Nr. 3.
